Our History

It all started in 1994 in Hassela, a small village of just over 500 inhabitants, deep in the northern forests of Hälsingland.

A machine operator, tired of poor quality and limited options, decided to develop his own grapples, built for the real world.

With a clear idea of what it takes to work efficiently and stand the test of time, the foundation was laid for what is today Hassela Skogsprodukter AB, better known as HSP Gripen.

Today, we are one of the leading companies in the development and manufacturing of hydraulic grapples for forestry, construction, and terminal handling.

With production in Hudiksvall and a team of around 50 employees, we develop and manufacture our products from the ground up, close to both the materials and the users.

Our grapples are used globally and sold through OEM/OED partners, dealers, and attachment specialists across multiple segments.

We are known for our yellow grapples, but what truly sets us apart is how they perform. Every detail is developed with a focus on efficient and smooth handling. With robust construction, smart design, and thoroughly tested solutions, we ensure high performance even in demanding environments. Our motto is "for tough jobs and heavy lifting." For us, quality is a given in every product that leaves our factory.

We combine deep industry knowledge with a strong drive forward. With Swedish engineering, carefully selected raw materials, and in-house manufacturing of key components, we build products we stand behind. At the same time, we continuously work on innovation, where new technology, structured ways of working, and close dialogue with the industry drive our development forward.

We have a culture of openness and are quick to laugh, while maintaining a clear focus on quality, service, and responsibility. We believe in commitment, collaboration, and always going the extra mile. For us, it is all about being a partner our customers can rely on over time.

We continue to develop both our products and our ways of working. Through increased digitalisation and AI in our processes, we are creating the conditions for even higher quality, efficiency, and customer value. At the same time, we are exploring new ideas and solutions that challenge traditional business models, with the goal of contributing to a more sustainable and future-proof industry.

We build grapples for those who demand the best, and we do it with the same drive today as when it all began in Hassela in 1994.
